Re: Re: wuz up

What's happening bloods? I post a fair amount on this site an am always willing to help out with anything, be it problems, performance questions, other general stuff. Nickelfish, you have the Ecotec 2.2. It is an ok motor but can only take so much as far as boost is concerned. There are a lot of alternatives to the GM kit although for s/cs in my opinion Eaton can't be beat. You have a compressio ratio of 10:1 and the Cobalt SS S/C has the same motor running the Eaton M62 blower at 12 psi boost and has been destoked with the comp ratio dropped to 9.5:1 in oder for it to handle this relatively small amount of boost reliably. If the kit has the M45 you'll only be able to get I think a max of 9 psi from it and that should be ok. But the M62 is a fair bit larger.

Try not to PM me as there are plenty other people who can help you also so just start a thread if you can't find what you are looking for via the search!

Salutations and welcome. I think everyone has pretty much covered the basics here about reading the " Important" before you post. Also the search function is really helpful on here as well. Many things have been covered to an tremendous extent. If ya can't find an answer post away and the knowledge able people on here will do our bests to help you out. Noshun a.k.a.- the living encyclopdia on J-bodys will more than likely supply you with an answer that is better than you can find in a repair manual. Now for some personal questions. Do you buy the car like that from the dealership, or did you just do that within 2 mos?. Also the GM supercharger is not out yet for the ecotec engine so if they decide to finish it, untill then you one of a bunch of people waiting for them. Welcome and enjoy your stay. as to all the searching and asking repeat Q's I was a part of tercelonline.com for a long time. I had a 97 tercel w/ a few mods. to Classicrocjunkie when I bought the car I had the dealer order the kit and paint it. I was supposed to get the extreme kit that is in another post but this one was a little cheaper and I like it just as much if not more.

Re: wuz up

hey welcome abaord, always nice to see another tuner coming in here. As for the GM Ecotec supercharger package, its a big mystery as of right now. It keeps getting delayed, i think its a combination of the Cobalt SS being released, and they having a hard time making it reliable. If it does come out, dont expect more than 5 PSI on the stock pulley. I know the M62 they claim to be using for it is more than capable of making more PSI than that, i just dont think the engines will be able to take it. Its already got a 10:1 compression, as where the 2.4L has only a 9.5:1 compression. But dont think that means no fun with FI for you, theirs LOTS of turbos and supercharger kits on the market. If you want some help finding one, just look in the performance section, under the thread Want Boost

The 2.0l ecotec in teh cobalt ss s/c has the comp ratio dropped to 9.5:1 from 10:1 for the 12 psi.
