1995 Park Avenue DLC

Hi!
Forum virgin here. I have a big belly, which is probably why I'm having a difficult time finding the Data Link Connector. I've read it is at the base of the passenger side of the steering column. Can someone supply a picture or be more specific about what I'm looking for (looks like, how it's mounted). Do I need to remove anything to see this?
Thanks,
Bill

You don't have to remove anything, it is a black square plastic connector, about 1 by 2 inches in size. It is sticking out from behind a cover underneath the dashboard. It is to the right side of the steering column, close to the gas pedal, so you have to really lay down under the dash to get a good view. I move the driver seat all the way back to get good room...
I'll try and post a link with a little more info.

Smile 1995 Park Avenue DLC

Thanks for your response Volkerc. I have your description and I went to both links you supplied. I now have a good picture of what I am looking for. The diagrams label the pins A to L. This bring up another question. What I need the link for is to program a keyless remote I just purchased. I have been told to short pins 4 and 8 (with a 3 amp fused wire). Do I substitute the letters for numbers 1 through 12, or is the ALDL
something different from a DLC? I'm going to go take a look in the car now.

I'm pretty sure that you substitute the letters with numbers. I do have a 91 and I had to jump letters a and h. Now I'm not sure if programming the remote might be different on a 95. I checked in my 91 manual where they also gave direct instructions on how to program the remote. You might want to check your owners manual also, just to make sure...

OK volkerc
As you suggested, I found it in the users manual. I didn't think to look there because this is more of a repair issue, and had no luck there whene I tried to open up the dash. In my case the DLC is a 16 pin connector, they say, above the gas peddel. I still can't find it. I see some kind of connector above the break and kind of loose, but I'm not sure. I guess I'll just take it to the dealer.
Thanks again for all your efforts VOLKERC.

thats what i thought you had 16 pin connector...
maybe you are confused what you are looking for. i'm pretty sure you know what an old printer cable for a computer looks like, now think of the opposite part on the computer, where you push the printer cable in, now on your car your looking for something similar, looks and sizewise.
i had to look a few times myself, because the connector is black, blends in nicely with the dash panel, the connector you saw is probably what you were looking for, i assume...

Hi volkerc
Took it to the dealer to confirm our suspecion. It is the one. They wanted $35 to make life easy for me. I just couldn't do it. I'd rather give it to a friend. Your also right that it looks something like an old TTY connector. I fixed computers for 20 years. You seem like you have some experience in the area. Thanks again pal.

be aware that my 95 connector was upside down in relation to the pinout in the owner's manual...
