AIT Sensor Resistor

Hey everyone,

I'm new to these boards I have a quick question.

I picked up a 1k Ohm resistor ( with a 5% tolerance) that will fit into my '01 Z24 2.4L Cavalier AIT sensor and I want to know whether or not the returns for putting it in are worth it.

Now I have never really done any modifications on my cavalier yet and and I wanted to try a few things out; but, before I do this I wanted to see if anyone that knows/has done this if it is a good idea. I understand that it will reduce my miles/gallon but will it give a good enough incease in horse power to be worth it? All replies are appriciated. Cheers

yeah it is IAT, but its intake air temperature, these resistors are alright depending on how you look at it, i bought one on ebay for $2 (yeah thats $1.99 more then what its worth) and it worked, it DID add power, it was definetely a noticable difference in power, but then i asked around on here about them, the main response i got was theyre bad. what they do is make your engine think its geting colder air, so it pushes more gas into the engine, giving it more power, but unless your engine has something to burn that extra gas, its just gona clog a bunch of shit up and screw you over in the long run im sure someone else will give you a more detailed answer, but thats all i got

Re: AIT Sensor Resistor

Thanks a lot of the responses guys.

I too actually picked it up off of ebay and it never really said what I was getting. If I knew it were just a simple resistor I would have went and bought one for 30 cents or cheaper somewhere. If I ever get around to it I'll stick it in and see what happens. Thanks
