Re: 17" rims on a hatcback, will they rub?
Depends on the tire size, not the rim. What size tire, how wide, how tall is the profile? Also depends if the car is lowered. There's more things to consider, rim size is the least important.

If your car is (or will be) lowered 2" or more you will have to "roll" the inside of the rear wheel wells or you'll rub.
Also, if you want to run 17's I suggest using 205/40-17 size tires. That's what I have on my car & haven't had any problems rubbing with 4 people in the car... |

Depends on what you're going for. I mean, if you want 17's because they look good, then go with 17's. Honestly, the only good thing about 17's is that they fit the wheel wells of 4g's perfect.
On the other hand, if you're going for performance 16's would be a much better choice. They're lighter, and you shouldn't have as many camber issues (unless you go really low). |

Re: 17" rims on a hatcback, will they rub?
i have 17s on my hatch with 205/40/17 tires lowerd about 1 1/2 they dont rub at all exept when i have four people in the car and hit a bump the back rims will hit the fender after i put my camber kit on but if i adjust it in a little they might tuck in and be fine
my rims are a +40 offset 17x7 |

i have 205/40s on mine with a 40 offset and with the 6inch drop from the air ride they tuck perfect and dont rub... i can drive the car the whole way down and they do not touch the fenders at all |

Re: 17" rims on a hatcback, will they rub?
your wheels probley tuck when you drop it and straighten back out when you raise back up if you had your camber set vertical when you were droped you would hit

16s would def be a better idea; less hassle.

Re: 17" rims on a hatcback, will they rub?
thats my point you dont have a camber kit if you did thay would hit. they wont lean in as far if you did
