Bad Mpg

I need help. I have 2000 V6 alero. I think i am getting bad gas mileage. Was wondering how big the gas tank really is? But i think i am getting about 22/23 mpg. I do not think that is so great. What shoud I do? Try changing air filter???? Thanks

Re: Bad Mpg

your tank is 14.5 gallons I think - look it up under research section on cars.com.

Here's a few things you can try to increase your fuel:

Buy a K&N drop in filter. When I got one for my Grand Am, I noticed a little bit better mileage.

Check / Change your PCV valve. It's only a 7$ part, but it makes a noticable difference. Here's how you check it: look at the front of your engine. On the right-hand corner, there will be a black rubber hose / bend that plugs into engine to the right of your oil cap. Pull it out - the piece on the end is your PCV valve. If it rattles, it's good. If not, buy a new one. You could just buy a new one just to be sure.

Check / maybe change your spark plugs / wires

Change your fuel filter
