HUGE PROBLEM - what to do with this engine now??

OK, I was giving my 91 Integra a tune up, while the shop guys were looking over the brake setup for the civic swap, as I was taking out the 3rd spark plug, it wouldn’t come out, so make a long story short, i pulled to hard, and ripped out half of the spark plug, half the plug/thread is still in there. Shop guys are like " your screwed"

So what do I do now????

Find another head? ??
Do an LS/Vtec ???

If I do an ls/vetc what head do I need, and other small stuff???

I am so pissed I do not feel like dealing with crap like this, I really needed this engine for my hatch. Still going to use everything else for the suspension and brake upgrade, but DAM I needed this engine. =(

Anyone have any ideas what to do??

Use an in-and-out and get that shit out. Or if you can't do that, why not just take the head off then get it out.

Take the head off get the plug out and if the threads are messed up then put in an insert. It's not that big a deal.

i just called my place, and there gonna try to use an "extractor" bit and try to get it out...


who ever had this car before me NEVER changed the plugs, and the car has 171,000 !!!!

Ummm if i were you i really wouldn't use a easy out to get that plug out, you could easily get metal shavings in your cylinder. Do it the right way and take the head off.

what about just buying a head from ebay??

anyone know wich heads will fit on this engine besides the one thats on there??

Why would you do that? You have to take the head off anyway, so when it's off just remove the spark plug... Don't waste your money if you don't have to...

Wow.. Some shop if they can't even figure out how to get a broke spark plug out..

Don't buy a new head, your old one will be fine, just fix the problem.

they said its so bad, that they will probably rip out all the thread thats in there, and they dint even start on the 4th one

id figure just get a vtec head and pull of a ls/vtec in the spring??

that head in the link off ebay would be a better head then the one thats on ur motor if u dont want to mess with getting the spark plug out u could just get that b18b head off ebay it would bump up the hp a little

the auction ends in like 89 hrs, but i want a vtec head, plus i can drive the civic until the swap in the spring

you are asking for more probs if you LS/VETC. just take the head to a m-shop and let them get it out. the shop that is doing this sound like they are gonna fuck it up even more. you don't need another head, your's will be fine. It's not a big deal. If you want vtec that bad get a B16A and be done.

dude...get the plug out.
It's gonna take serious work to do an ls/vtec....too much money.
I could easily put it together for you...but tuning is the issue....i can't tune. Stay with the nontec....more potential than the vtec anyday.
