electrical problem '91 caravan

My "91 stopped running (in downtown Atlanta). The wire to the positive side of the coil registers a dead short. I took out the auto shut-down module and took it to the dealer but he couldn't test it and didn't have a wiring diagram to help me.

So, assuming that the problem is not just a shorted wire, where does the positive coil wire come from and does the auto shut down ground the coil somewhere away from the asd unit itself?

I did the tests in the Haines manual, hotwiring the coil and grounding out the #19 of the sbec, but no spark.....

anyone?

fixed/not fixed

couldn't do the diagnostics because the engine wouldn't start......replaced the coil....tried a another asd module -junkyard-.....went back to the yard and got another asi module; throttle position sensor; and a temp. sensor.....it didn't start until I jumped the coil: that either got the fuel up to pressure or something else....

well, well.....it happened again.....looks like a problem with the ignition. I turned the key on and off several times and I noticed that the check engine light wasn't coming on and it wouldn't start, no spark. I flipped the key back and forth some more and when the check engine light came on it started right up. Is the problem in the key switch or somewhere else???
