Need advice

I recently bought a 96' Plymouth Neon. It sounds great when you start it and let it idle, however when you drive for a little and your stopped at say a light and its idling then you can hear a slight sound. Its kinda like a put put put put kinda sound. and it only occurs everynow and then. Also when im driving it everynow and then it goes on these little fits where it just wants to die so i have to put it in neutral release the clutch and rev a little to keep it going and then at the next light it wont do it. I dont get it it just has little fits. Also does anyone know how the shifter knob comes off i have a new one i would like to put on.

THanks

Re: Need advice

Test IAC, Check PCV Valve. Get knob off there is a clip on the knob part itself that clips to the shifter. You can feel it if you squeez the boot. Undo that and it should come out. Hope that helps. I have a Dodge Neon 95 and they are prettymuch the same.
