high rev after carb cleaner
i jsut cleaned my throttle body with carb cleaner and when i started the car back up it revs right to about 5k rpm. So i shut it right off. I started it back up a few more times but shut it off before it could get that high. Is this due to cleaner that didn't evaporate? I also did not cover the whole at the bottom of the TB, which i found out i should've done this after i did it...

LoL...You sound like me a few months ago..... I had the exact same problem. You have to let the carb cleaner evaporate completely.I took mine out and let it sit for a day then put it back in and the problem was completely gone.

Re: high rev after carb cleaner
I just went back out there and started her up hoping the carb cleaner would've evaporated, but it still wanted to rev high. So i took the throttle body elbow off and noticed the throttle was open a little. See, i adjusted my accelerator cable also and i left it way too tight therefore leaving the throttle part way open. The adjustment was made, and now my car idles great. All that carbon that was in there made the butterfly not close completely. Now it idles steady at 1k.

Re: high rev after carb cleaner
speaking of which....i think i need to clean mine out....my car likes to switch idle speeds on me every now and then. normally when i start the car cold, it'll stay at 1500 or so till it warms up a bit (which is normal)...then it'll drop to 1,000.....then after driving a bit, it'll idle at 750 - 900....then after driving a bit longer, it idles at 1100 - 1200......then sometimes all the way down to 500 or so......when i clean it, i'm gonna get a new gasket for like $1.95 or somethin at carquest. could this be my problem though? dirty TB?

Re: high rev after carb cleaner
It wouldn't hurt to clean it, its really easy. If I were you i'd give it a try. Mine idled really high, about 1800-2k. But this is after i did a head swap and all that fun stuff. Today i adjusted the BISS properly by grounding out 2 different wires (thank you VFAQ!) and my car idles like brand new. I also cleaned the intercooler, but that was after I adjusted the idle.
