Brakes are crappy

If I drive without pumping the brakes for 10 minutes b4 driving my brakes are like this:

25% depressed >> nothing happens
50% Depressed >> nothing happens
75% Depressed >>front left wheel locks
80% Depressed >> all wheels lock

There is really no... slowing. Its either nothing or screeching. I even haven new break pads on front tires!!

Re: Brakes are crappy

All the pumping sounds like air in the lines (bleed the lines)
You could have a leaky wheel cylinder, drum brakes in the back (make visual inspection)
Your master cylinder could be faulty (AutoZone has them cheap)
Your front calipers could be faulty, disc brakes front (make visual inspection)

When putting on front pads, always adjust the rear brakes, brakes pads will last longer.

Well my brother bleeds my brakes quite frequently but they only stay good for like 2 or 3 days max. Then they go back to being the same crappy brakes. Does this tell u anything?

Re: Brakes are crappy

Sounds like you have a worn part that seeps fluid somewhere. Your brother should be able to see a wet stop on the brakes while bleeding, if they are the culprit. A master cylinder can act all weird when it starts wearing out. Also a power brake booster. A PBB can take months to finally die. It has a diaphragm that cracks and leaks air.

A brake system is rather simple but has many parts, so don't rule out anything. It's hard to guess what's wrong w/o seeing the car.
