Box questions for a ported SE 12"

Ok, I think I have settled on the RE audio SE 12" and a ported box, Now I just need to make a box, since I am a cheap ass and good with my hands, I have decided to make it myself. What is the best material to make it out of, I was going to use 1/2" Baltic Birch plywood for it. Now on www.reaudio.com they have plans for a box, but should I use them???? Or should I just give specs to an audio shop and have them do it for me... Also, If anyone has plans that will work for one of these subs, could I use them? And what what specs do I need...

-Thanks Alot

Re: Box questions for a ported SE 12"

Just use 3/4 MDF. Make it around 2 cubes NET tuned to 28-35hz with 20-40 sqin of port area.

For daily, i'd go with a little lower tuning.

For the box, i'd go with 2.5 cubes NET @32hz w/ 40 in^2 of port. It'll give you a little better sq, and a nice amount of output. peace

Re: Box questions for a ported SE 12"

The more box volume and the lower the tuning the low bass (and how bottom heavy it is) will increase so if you want crazy LOWLOWs do 28 hz in 2.5 cubes if you want it a little more even do 2 cubes at 32hz.

Re: Box questions for a ported SE 12"

Ok, I want some LOW bass, but since ive never heard anything like what this is gonna sound like, im not sure how it will sound....(did that make any since whatsoever?) What sounds the most impresive?, 28hz at 2.5cuft or 32hz at 2cuft?
IM gonna walk into an audio shop next week, and ask what it costs for them to build me a custom box, I can't wait to see the look on the guys face when I say i want a box at 2.5 cuft and tuned to 28 hz................

You have to understand this audio shop, an 8" bazooka bass tube to them sounds awsome
