Question on the SVO
My friend is convinced that his Mazda B2300 pickup, which has the Ford 2.3l engine, shares the same engine w/ the SVO; therefore, he thinks that he can buy turbo mods for his truck. Is he right or not? If on the off chance that he is right, has anyone heard of people doing this?

Re: Question on the SVO
^I don't know for sure but I think I read they were different engines and if he did that he would have to tear down the block and rebuild it with different internals.

Re: Question on the SVO
Same basic engine, but if I remember correctly, the turbo had some forged internals. It's been done many times, but usually it's cheaper and easier to pull an SVO or T-bird engine and put it in the truck. Of course, you need all the electronics and fuel system parts to make it work too. Fun ride if done correctly!

If I remember right the ford turbo cars had TRW forged internals factory from those years. I agree with the engine swap, it would cost more to swap the internals than it woudl to buy an engine from an 87 or 88 TC with the the 190 horse engine or the SVO engine with I think it was 225... but you can pick up a TC engine for like 500 bucks from a JY an SVO engine is bound o be a tad more expensive.

Re: Question on the SVO
Can be done, but you'd be better off in the long run getting a full motor/harness/computer out of a Turbo Coupe.
At the minimum you'd have to change to lower compression pistons and put better exhaust valves in the truck. 302 swaps aren't that hard.....esp. in a 2wd.
