Question Sellin my Kickers for $175....Now what to get????

I just got an offer to buy my 2 10" 4ohm Dual Voice Coil Kicker Comp VR's...I told him 175 for them and the box (I paid 100 for them), I will prob knock it down to 150...but Im not sure about what to get now...Im thinking 2 10" Rockford Punch Stage 1 or a single 12" in a ported box or something...but If I only get one sub, I have to get a new amp, since I only have a 4 channel. Im looking for something cheap, but puts out nice bass. Ideas are Welcome

-Thanks

single RE SE 12 ported

it's a dual 4, you can bridge the amp to each of the coils, and if that really is a 500rms amp it should do pretty well on it

So how much do you have to spend? 150? thats not much to work with. I would say Adire Audio Shive=$125, or Ascendant Audio Atlas 12=$145 w/ Profile CA600 or something along those lines for $100 or less. be carefull w/ the gains

Re: Sellin my Kickers for $175....Now what to get????

Where can I buy the RE SE 12 ported from?...Also, the amp is a Sony Xplod, so yea... the 500W is streaching it...my budget is probably around 250 for Everything, cause when I buy this stuff, Im done with the subs for awhile, atleast till I get some more hours in on the ole' job.

I like the Idea of the Shiva, but Also, how would I wire that up with my existing amp?...or would I have to get a new amp....i want one, but if its not needed, i won't spend the extra money. And what would I get the box tuned to?...
What type of amp should I get if i get the Shiva, and where is the best place to get it....

-Thanks alot

Re: Sellin my Kickers for $175....Now what to get????

AMP=Profile CA600 or close to (yes you would need a new amp if you opt for the Shiva) you can get these at many places online.
The Shiva is a dual 8 ohm driver, so wired in parallel down to 4ohm the Profile amp is a good match IMO. Tune the box I would say mid 20's? Not sure about volume specs for the box, im sure sr20 can get you on that.

Re: Sellin my Kickers for $175....Now what to get????

is this for sound quality or do you need it to be as loud as your previous setup?

I have an Image Dynamics IDQv1 that has never been mounted before. I even have the original gasket. lol.

anyways, the RE SE is a good sub and you won't be dissappointed.!

Ok, I am assuming, that the Shiva is gonna be a Hell of alot louder than my current setup? I know no one has heard it, but i guess that you know enough about audio to know about what its like

Can you fit a ported 15? If you can I would scratch the Shiva an get a Tempest for $150. You can still use the Profile amp. That will def. give you good bass. very good bass. tune it low

No a shiva won't be louder. an SE 12 will be close but 2 tens have a lot more cone area then a single 12. now an SE while getting around the same ouput if not a tad more install dependant will sound a LOT better and you can get good low end out of it unlike the kickers.

Dear god, the only thing I know about subs is that everyone around my area has told me to stay away from Rockford Stage 1's. GO Stage 2 or 3, both pound nicely I hear.

Re: Sellin my Kickers for $175....Now what to get????

The shiva or tempest would be nice, the problem is that you'll need a new amp with either of those. If you go with a dual 4ohm sub you don't need to change amps, and the SE is right in your price and power range.

Re: Sellin my Kickers for $175....Now what to get????

What kind of space do you want to sacrifice? The Shiva or SE12 will need more space than what a S10 has to offer.

The big obsticle for trucks is lack of space. You'll never get big bass like in cars or SUV's unless you get technicle. What I suggest for my customers is to pick a sub that recomends a real small cabinet and then build a bandpass style box. That way you can tune the box where you need it. It will still play all frequencies but it will self amplify the "dead spot" you need to make it sound nice.

You have to remember though, I have an extended cab pickup, so I can use all that space behind the seats. I have settled on the SE12" ported box
