Angry Stop the beeping

Ok, please help

Car command center beeps non stop. Says the trunk is ajar. It isn't.

Latch has been replaced, new sensor twice, still beeps, nonstop while driving.

Is there anyway to disconnect the sensor. I need to make it stop. My husband can do it, he said "find out where it wired". Or something close to that.

Oh god, please help me make the beeping stop.

1989 Bonneville SSE

Thanks for ANY replies

Re: Stop the beeping

Remove the speaker of the beeper, or fix the trunk latch system.

It is located up under the driver side hush panel.

Re: Stop the beeping

The beeping is probably coming from the Drivers Information Center (DIC) which is integrated with the dash cluster. There is a switch on the trunk latch that grounds when the trunk is open. This switch is connected to a BLK/RED wire that goes to the DIC module. Possible causes include faulty switch or an intermittent short to ground. First, disconnect the harness to the trunk latch. This will also disable the power trunk release feature as well. If the beeping stops then the switch is bad. If it continues then it might me the wire or could be a faulty DIC module.

NOTE: the wire color comes from my 90 manual and might be different. I'm trying to verify by a friend who has an 89 manual.

I thought I read on BC that it used that main beeper unit that beeps when the door is open with the keys in the ignition is the same unit that beeps when the dic has problems.

Re: Stop the beeping

Not for the 88-91 as there is a dedicated speaker on the circuit board that also operates the DIC display. The DIC beeping is a different tone than the multi function chime tone. I would guess that there is also a different speaker for the 92+ but I havent dug into the one from my 93 that deep.

Here is a picture of the DIC display circuit board. The integrated speaker is indicated with the blue arrow:

Thanks to my buddy Justin for supplying the pic.
