2000 Sonata GLS Spark Plugs

When the dealership quoted me a price of $280 for spark plugs I just about fell over. They said it was because they were titanium. I asked if I could just replace them with normal spark plugs and they said that was not possible. Can this be true?

Yup. I see it all the time, people putting normal plugs back into their car, or buy Splitfires, or Bosch Platinum +4, and it almost always throws a check engine light. I would definately put oem plugs back in it. Most of the V6 cars came with Champion from the factory, but replacements are NGK. Hyundai part # 18817-11051, with a list price of $13.25 each, plus an intake plenum gasket, which you have to remove to get to the back plugs. $280 is about right on that price. If you can find another shop to do the labor cheaper, I would still go with oem plugs.

I believe the plugs are either platnium or iridium most likely theyu are the platnium whch are 60k plugs, if they fail before 60k then it is a warrentyable concern along with the wires.
