Window Problems

I had a defective motor on my drivers side window that was already fixed. Now it won't come back up again. Even after talking to a mechanic and taking off the door panel yada yada... still don't know what's wrong with it. Planning on taking it to pep boys to replace the motor, just wondering why it would be a repeat problem and how to fix it...

Re: Window Problems

Could be a few things. Why did the last motor fail? If the window is up, does it go down? Possible switch problem. You can bypass the switches by hooking 12 volts up to the window motor. If it moves in the wrong direction, reverse the leads. If it doesn't move either way, the motor may be bad again. Repeated failures of the motor could be caused by the window binding up on threwindow channel. One good indication of a binding problem is where the window goes up very slowly. Silcone spray in the window channel will fix that problem.

Re: Window Problems

It won't come up at all, we took off the door panel and tried to wire it (past the switch) still doesn't work. You can't pull it up or anything either. I'm guessing I keep getting bad motors, but why would they keep going bad, like in the same door?

Re: Window Problems

I think you might be burning them out because the window is not sliding properly. Some windows have a spring in the regulator which helps lift the window that may be broken. Or you might be holding the window switch too long after it reaches it full up or down position. They do not have a built -in torque switch to turn the motor off when it reaches the end limits of the window.
