Hey Guys,
I thought I was done for the night... but I had to go back out and check for vac leaks for my GC stalls while driving. I can just about say that this is only happening when I let up off the gas.. after some acceleration. As of now I am looking at the AIC........ would one of you experts tell me if this is correct operation. (using the haynes plus some mods of my own) I let the jeep run up for about 10 mins or warm... idle is right on the money everyonce inawhile .. there may be a rumble... nothing bad. The haynes says pull the electrical connector off.... I should hear something. ( I didnt hear a change in rpm) Haynes says to plug connector back in .. then load the motor down. I went in the jeep and gave it gas, then dropped it (thinking it would die) It didnt .. it went back to a normal idle then slowly creeped up to about the 1k mark. I then plugged the IAC back in... and after 30 seconds it went back down to a normal idle. I then went back to the haynes.. which said put the car in gear, load the motor.. i did with the a/c and turning the power steering..... The motor bogged down quite abit.. it was very loud....but it didnt stall. Does the IAC ops check good? since I cleaned that IAC port and the IAC . Do i need to drive around abit.. even if it stalls to recal the computer.. or does this adjust automaticlly. I am looking at pictures of IACs for the jeep gc sold at autozone and other places. I noticed they look different. Mine has a long shaft that spins with a shiny tip. The ones I see at in the pictures have a spring where my shaft is, but has the shiney end. One thing I am still trying to understand is how does that little thing control the air. I didnt toy with mine so does it spin or does it retract in that little slot? Thanks, FB BTW.... if im looking into this too deep..... I will be back in school soon with 2 test staring at me... so dont fret!! :o) Last edited by flyboy70; 02-06-2005 at 09:04 PM. |

Sounds right to me. Jeeps are known to have a problem with the IAC,sometimes cleaning it will do the trick if not you have to replace it. The problem with them is sometimes they work fine and other times when driving after decelerating the jeep will stall. If you have to replace it take the old part with you. Ive got many wrong parts over the years by not checking and bringing the old part with me.
