sl1 rpm rising

hi have a 1998 sl1 120,000km on it had spark plug and cable change this summer, now what its doing when starting ,it kind of choke but once warms up runs ok but the other problem is when it start the rpm goes up to 2000 for 2 to 3 sec then lowers to 1000 idle before it was at around 700 to 800 also when arriving to a stop it kind of down shift the car is automatic and rpm rise up again to 2000 and back down again to 1000 for 2 to 3 sec youre help would kindly be appreciated.thank you
