1994 Golf question
This just started last night and whenever I come to a stop, the engine oil pressure light starts flashing, but when I take off, the light stops flashing. I'm just wondering what could be the problem, if it's something I can fix easily or should I take this to a mechanic?

Re: 1994 Golf question
Get the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge. If it's okay (min 29 psi w/engine hot) then it's probably one of the sensors. If it's low it may need an oil pump, how many miles are on it?

Re: 1994 Golf question
You would have to put a mechanical oil pressure gauge into the oil sensor hole on the back end of the cylinder head, this has nothing to do with a being full. What brand & weight oil did you use? Which brand oil filter also?

I'm using both Penzoil for the oil 10w-30 and the penzoil oil filter.

I have a 94 golf gl (gas). The oil light was flashing all the time, and beeping too. The local vw shop said to do an oil change and put in 15w40.

Re: 1994 Golf question
10W-30 is the rccomended, 15W-40 or 20W-50 may help, but I would have the oil pressure checked.
