Unhappy fuel pressure drops from 48 to 0 but starts up then shuts off in few seconds

1997 pontiac gtp i hooked the fuel pressure tester up turned the key on the fuel pump kicked on then stoped like it was pressureized then started the car the pressure when to 48 to 0 in like 2 seconds what do you think it is regulator? or pump? the car was low on fuel and the warning light was on i ran it for a while then the next time i tryed to run it it was staling out so i put gass in it and it still continues to stall.

where is the regulator on this car? do you have to drop the tank to get the pump out or can you take it out threw the trunk? what do you thinks wrong?

Sounds as if you may be having a problem the the fuel pump resistor.Try doing this at the under hood fuse box and see if it run's.

Pull out relay 15 and bend tab 85.If the car start's and run's ,your fuel pump resistor has gone bad.
