PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
1999 sunfire 2.4L automatic, is there a transmission dipstick in it? if so where is it? Can you blow your trany by puting too much fluid in it? I was told to fill it to the top of the fill resevior, obviously that was wrong, but in the meantime i had put 3 quarts in. Do I need to get it drained right away!!? Thank you, desperate city girl, who knows very little about cars. Last edited by shandra1174; 02-07-2005 at 05:21 PM. |

Re: 1999 sunfire transmission dipstick
What engine? Manual, or automatic?
I can tell you for the 2.2L OHV 5-speed, the dip stick is perty far back at the rear of the tranny. It's really small... I never knew it was there until I had my tranny fluid flushed at a local lube place, and they showed me. They accessed it from the bottom, but if you reach far enough I think you could grab it from the top. |

yes i would bring it to a garage to have it checked you can do just as much damage having to much in it than not enough.......all automatics have a dipstick....

The 2.4l engine does not have a dipstick for the transmission. It is a "sealed" transmission (even though it still has a cap that you can add oil through).
Stupid design. Manual states that you don't have to check the T-oil, but if you notice a leak you must take it to the dealer. |
