Won't crank/coolant problem...related?
My son has a 1995 Pontiac Sunfire, 2.2L engine. When he last drove it, no problem. Now, it won't crank. When we try to start the car, it turns over, but won't crank, and will occasionally backfire. While doing this, we noticed that the coolant reservoir was backing up and spewing out. We took the lid off of the reservoir and tried to crank the car and coolant was pouring out of the reservoir. My husband thinks it is the timing chain. Can a bad timing chain back up the coolant in the system? What do you think? Help!!
