Question oil pressure sending unit

OK. I bought an oil pressure sensor from NAPA when my oil pressure went sky high and stayed there. I wasn't worried until I changed my oil. I drained a quart....maybe. OK panic time here. I get the unit and now I can't find where the darned thing screws in. And it's not covered in the Haynes manual. This sucks, big time. Any help would be appreciated.

Should be towards the front on the drivers side, below the exhaust manifold.

Check the passenger side just above the oil pan.

oil pressure switches

4.3 : top,rear of engine,driverside of distribitor
96-4.3 vortec: driverside head between cylinders 3 & 5
96-2.2 :front of engine under thermostat housing
2.2 : looking at passengerside of motor top right of coil pack
2.5: under lifter plate between cylinders 2 & 3
2.8: rear side of oil filter driverside of engine

hope this solves the oil pressure switch questions

We're talking about oil pressure sending units, not the coolant temperature sending units that you listed.

I don't have those books, I have the Haynes manual for 94-01. The ones you list for the 96 year models are shown as coolant temperature sending units in this book.

Oil Pressure sensor: round 2

Thanks for the help. I found the unit right away. Now comes the challenge, taking it off. Get this, the new sending unit fits the sending unit socket but the old one doesn't. I hate technology. I geuss it's a good thing I have to pull the distributor anyway, otherwise I'm never going to be able to fit the 1-1/16 wrench I've got to use. Thanks again. The info was great and the rest is on me.

Re: oil pressure sending unit

For the record, on all 4.3's it's in back of the motor next to the distributor..Simply use an oil sender unit socket to remove. You will typically need two if it's your first time. The larger one for the stock, the smaller one for the aftermarket unit...
