check engine light 97 wrangler

OK this is wierd, I have a 97 wrangler SE, runs great, no problems whatsoever. but the other day I installed a CD player (which went fine) but after that my check engine light stays on. I didn't mess with any wiring other than the radio. Any suggestions?

Re: check engine light 97 wrangler

Disconnect the neg battery cable for 5 minutes. That will reset the CEL. You can see if it will stay out when you reconnect and restart the engine.

If it comes back on, check for computer codes.

Re: Re: check engine light 97 wrangler

Thanks, I just found a site that shows how to check for the computer codes, it turned out to be an o2 sensor went out, had it replaced, no more light.

for those of you who don't know how to check for the codes you can (providing you have a tj) turn your key to the on position 3 times within 5 sec. leave it on the last time and your digital odometer will flash with some code numbers, then look the codes up on the list.

for more info and the code list go to,

www.webejeepin.com

and click on "check engine light" at the top. Happy Jeepin!
