GM maf

ive been looking into the gm maf, is there any consiquences to venting with the GM maf?
and could i use this one, and what else would i need

i have been using the maft for allmost two years and im very happy with it.$80.00 for a used maf is to much,the salvage yards sell them for around $40.00 and the translator is $199.00 from dsmparts.com.and yes theres no problem with venting if ran in the blow-through set up.
