steering column shroud in newer civics
I work for an aftermarket stereo shop and in the winter we do a pile of remote starts. My question is the shroud around the steering column in the newer civics, what process do you guys use to remove this without breaking the clips. The other installer at work has had to pay to replace 4 of them now, and i've lucked out so far. But no matter how careful i am 1 or 2 of the clips always break. We have talked to honda on this issue and the said they have the same problem, WTF, i mean surely someone knows the secret to winning that battle. Also when we are removing the panel we CANNOT mark it in any way and i'm sure you guys know how easily Honda interior is to mark. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Re: steering column shroud in newer civics
i usually squeez the front in (closer to the wheel) in to the center ov the column. The ones toward the dash i us a small flat head screw driver and stick it in the seem of the two halfs. close to were the clips are and gentle pry it. They usually pop without breaking.
