Ported Manifold for a 98 Grand Prix SE?
Hey guys, I drive a 98 Grand prix SE, and need some info. Was wondering if it's possible to toss a ported manifold onto my car. I know you can put one on a GT, but wasnt sure if they make it fitted to an SE...
Any info would be great... Thanks |

Re: Ported Manifold for a 98 Grand Prix SE?
most SEs have a different engine (3800gt/gtp, 3100se) and different exhaust, ive seen some that dont so im assuming that there is an option for either engine when buying the car. All ported exhaust manifolds that i have seen have been for GTs and GTPs. You could always take your manifolds from your own car and have them ported, but i dont know how much more power the increased flow will bring on a 3100, so it might not be worth it.

I have the 3800 (3.8L) Engine...
I'm not really lookin to race this car (lol), i'm just lookin to give it some extra hp for daily driving... Pretty soon i'm gonna get a custom exhaust made and maybe just throw a cai on it. |

Re: Ported Manifold for a 98 Grand Prix SE?
sounds good, headers/ported manifolds would give you a kick, but the exhaust/ CAI, and mabe a chip would probly give more cost effective power gains. good luck
you might consider a FWI, make it your self, its relatively easy, and cheap, you cn search old threads for instructions, and i would suggest a straight pipe run from the factory cat to the factory y split, (would take out the u-bend and the resonator) and then just get aftermarket mufflers, both will give you aftermarket performance and the FWI will only cost you 60-65 bucks, the exhaust work less than 250, and the chip 100-200 bucks, ~500 including instalation is not bad at all for the whole setup
