99 Sonata question thinking to buy

Hey, I looked at a white 1999 sonata gls with 52,000 miles. It runs good but noticed a very small drop of oil on the ground on the right side of the engine (if you are in front of the car looking at the engine). So its the transmission right and I wanted to ask what could have caused this and if the pan seal is bad how much would it cost to replace, number of laber hours required. Thanks and if you need any details i'll try to give them as best as I can.

1999 Sonata GLS

It's a 1999 not a 97. The radiator has been replaced along with the serpintine belt. The guy said it was hit in the front and even though the paint is bad on the bumper, it isn’t cracked and nothing looks broken except for that top black piece on top of the bumper under the hood which is cracked in 2 places. It has 52k miles and the engine runs like a dream. Transmission shifts perfect. There was one small drop of oil under the transmission so I touched the bottom of the pan and off came some dirt and a drop of oil. The transmission oil was changed like 2 months ago. What do you guys think? He wants $2700. How much would it cost to fix the oil leak if that’s what it is?

I would get a mechanic friend to check out the vehicle over, just in case. As well as get acarfax report on it to see if its been in any accidents etc.

TS out

Thanks for the reply. I've decided to buy it since it only has 52,000 miles on it and it runs like brand new and even though it had that little drop of oil on under the transmission, it shifts perfect so I don't think it will disintergrate. So im going to end up paying like around $2,500 for it which I don't think is very bad for that car. After I get it I'll post some pics of the car and everything else so you guys can see what shape its in.

Do I need to insure the car before I can register it? Also, I'm going to have to take it to inspection even though its valid right?
