Quick question on brake pad shims

This is a question for an ABS disk brake pad application.

I recently installed new ceramic brake pads. The ceramic pads I purchased had a metal shim type piece tacked onto the backside. My question is, do I need to install the original metal shims from my stock brake caliper on the backside of these pads even if they already have a similar such thing tacked onto it? Thanks
