battery light on

My daughter's 2002 zx3 zetec battery light is staying on. In 10/04 the corrosion on the pos terminal was horrendous. After a lengthy cleaning in battery hell, the original batt was re-connected and the engine did not turn over. Went to WalMart and got a new battery and I was back on the road.

After cleaning the corrosion I found several wires of the stranded pos cable had been eaten away. With the new battery this was no problem.

Now it is 02/05. The battery light came on and is now staying on. I checked the WalMart battery by voltmeter, all cells with a hygrometer checked good on specific gravity and the car starts good, every time.

Of course in the process, I cleaned batt cables (removed them) and put them back on the batt terminals. (cleaned them too).

So, the alternator seems to be charging OK (good spec gravity readings) and the starter cranks over readily.

Any solutions or reasons for the battery lights staying on?

Thanks Tom

Re: battery light on

If all the electrical seems to be running normally, and nothing out of the ordinary is happening, then maybe just have a shop run a scan on the comp to see if it's logged any error codes...if nothing then I have no clue what could be wrong. Maybe the light's just malfunctioning...? That light should only come on if the battery has a low charge, so if that's ok, then again, I'm clueless.
