1994 ram van 3.9 problem

Problem van would not start .someone told me to change timing chain ,
Changed timing in van with the #1 piston up and set to the # 1 plug to the distb. van still wont start .checked plugs and plugs wet with gas. changed plugs still floods the plugs and gas spits through the top of motor any help on this problem would be appreciated

You probably messed things up worse. It likely wasn't the timing chain.
