I have a 92 vr4 and car feels like its going to shake off the chassis at 20mph it then clears up and comes back when i am c???+??PChecked all easy solutions, anyone have this problem before? i dont want to get handed a fat one at the dealership, that we all know probley is as much in the dark as I am thanks. Could it be the bearing insulators on the driveshaft ???????

I put new tires on they said my tie rod was going bad but did not tell me that untile the car was on the ground.. im thinking somthing with the driveshaft at lower speeds somthing is binding up and with the speed the spinning of the drive shat actually balances it out. do you know of any clamps that could be replaced

Re: Anyone have vibration around 20mph

Driveshaft u-joints, tie rods, alignment, wheel bearings, tires need to be balanced, warped rotor...tons of things could cause vibration.

if it does it when accelerating, it may be a driveshaft vibration. probably the u-joints...

Definitely the U-joints. Chrysler/Mitsu wants $250/piece (CAD) for them here. Ouch. For that price, if the car doesn't sell "as-is", I will just buy an aluminum or CF driveshaft.

I would like to thank all of you for your help, I know all of you as I think of our cars as one of a kind. However very expensive to maintain and fix, well i think its worth it. Im putting the car up and my mech will take care of it for 100.00 which is a cfs. He doing its so cheap because he replaced the motor with a brand new crate motor and a new tranfer case( all the insides), the way I see it I spent 8,000 on this already and he should have seen the problem when it was in the air and im swapping a furnace for the cfs, I made out pretty good I think.

Re: Anyone have vibration around 20mph

I had that prob on my 92 VR4... so i took a look at my drive line and noticed i need to replace my Carrier bearings because they where geting worn out... if thats the case, the only place to get them is the dealer... i think i payed around $145 for them... what i did is took them home and got some silicone and filled them full of silicone to enhance life time on them. then you have to take your drive shaft off and take it to a machine shop to get them removed and replaced because they are pressed on...
