1991 w-150 318cid
blowing black smoke, burning lots of fuel, feels like it has a miss. new parts installed so far: o2, mapp, egr, magnetic pickup, coolant temp. sensor. there are no codes on the engine, there is a code for the torque converter selonoid. i had a complete tune up. I've had the truck too three shops and no one can fix it.

Be sure to have them check the actual vaccuum cannister/resovior (sp). I've heard of them cracking.

my truck was rammed sitting in front of my house last week. Insurance co. is going to want to total it. I won't let them, if i have to i will drop the claim and fix it myself. I'm the original owner from "91" and it only had one small dent, it's in nice shape! The blue book is $1800 but it's worth much more to me. Engine problem will take back seat for now, thanks for your help
