Re: Difference between 02 RS and SS

RS - V6 3.8l 200 hp w/ ground effects (body kit)
SS - V8 350 chevy small block 325*-HP (not sure hp) 350cc engine.

Huge difference. Others around here will fill you in on the details.

The SS is not a 350. 346ci LS1 GM gen III smallblock.

On average, the SS is 2.5-3 seconds faster in the 1/4.

Some of those facts are a touch off. Close though.

Most decent drivers can get an LS1 car down the track somewhere in the low 13's. There have been stock cars to break the 12's.
The 0-60 is close. From everything I have read and by driving my own, it is VERY close to a dead even 5 seconds. The calculations on this are difficult. And vary from car to car.
Axle ratio......3.42 is for the M6 cars. M6 = 6 speed. Auto's are either 2.73 or 3.23.
My redline is 6,000.

i think 350 cubic centimeters is an understatement, dont you mean 350 cubic inches.

LT1 SS is 305 hp
LS1 SS is 325 hp

Re: Difference between 02 RS and SS

if you have the choice between an rs and an ss, the ss is definitely the right choice.
