Does the heat work? Like the heater.

Re: 95 ram 5.9 over heating

I have a 96 with the 5.9 that did the same thing. I simply power flushed the cooling system and put in a new 180 degree thermostat. She sits around 185 degrees now.

well the heat works a bit...but not as much as it should...i turned it on full blast and there was alittle bit of heat...so do you think it just needs to be flushed or somethin wrong with the heater core?

I'd definitely flush the system and install a new thermostat before tackling the heater core.

That's a good idea yeah. Don't want to go through the trouble of ripping the heater core out of there when there's nothing wrong with it and it's only the thermostat that's messed up...

Water pump could be shot too?

I agree, check around the front of the motor by the fan where the water pump usually sits, if it's leaking like a texas gusher, that cause it to overheat easily.

Re: 95 ram 5.9 over heating

There have also been some posts about overheating, and it turned out to be a partially clogged radiator, so if you've done everything else that will likely be your problem.
