Wipers stuck up

My windshield wipers stop in the straight-up position. They work normally, except that when I turn them off, they don't lie down; they come to rest lying like goalposts on the windshield. Fortunately, my field of vision is right between them... This started yesterday when I turned them off after it had been snowing on the way home.

u sure you didnt turn the car off before the wipers went down, and you just need to turn the wipers on again to get them to re-set?
