Exclamation Help My Hood Latch Is Broke

I just boughta used 1998 ford explorer sport. i was nieve and didnt look under the hood. It runs great but I notice a wire, with tape around it, sticking out on the side of the hood latch. i had to put washer fluid in and when i went to pop the hood NOTHING. I looked at some other sites for help just so i can get the fluid in there until the dealership fixes it but i am lost....any help would be great.

im not understanding you,

is there a hood release inside the vehicle?
is the wire with tape on it inside the vehicle?
is the wire with tape on it under the front of the hood?
please give a little more details so we can help you better.

Re: Re: Help My Hood Latch Is Broke

There is a hood latch inside and that is where the wire with the tape is sticking out. I pull the latch and I get nothing. The wire does nothing either.

thanks

first try using a pair of pliers to pull the wire.if that fails try stickking your hand through the grille right under the hood releaseand feel for the wire.if you can feel the wire with your figers take a coat hanger(dont unbend the coathanger)and bend the top of the hanger to the side and hook it on the wire.try to twist the coat hanger a little so it wont come off the wire when you pull the coat hangerdown wardsthat should release the hood.goodluck and let us know what happines.if that fails i have another idea.
