Angry Nav Radio Cool, But.....

New to GM and new to the forum!!!

2005 Envoy XL SLT, I have a Nav Radio and when the vehicle is in motion it disables the buttons that would allow you to change the destination while enroute. I have to come to a stop in order to change the destination.

Does anyone know how to change this feature so that I can pick a destination while moving?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I would say that the buttons are disabled for safety reasons. If traffic is moderately high, I can't even take my eyes completely off the road for more than a few seconds, let alone reprogram a destination on the nav screen.

Re: Nav Radio Cool, But.....

The passenger is fully capable of programing while the car is in motion, don't you agree?

Maybe soon all the "safety sensitive" regulators/lawyers will decide that all vehicles should be electronically speed limited based on the info in the Nav cd-rom... Speeding is dangerous you know!!

I put a switch in the wire. I went to the dealer and they printed off the wiring for me. The wire is called the VSS wire an you can find more info here….

Re: Nav Radio Cool, But.....

I am so freakin confused on this NAV head unit issue. I have an 02 Envoy SLT with Onstar, 6 disc BOSE. Ive heard conflicting reports of the 02 Envoy's having the Series II data bus or not. Is there a "for sure" way to tell?? Somebody said if my door chime comes through my speakers (and it does) then its series II data bus. What 'exact' part #'s would I need to upgrade?
