Question 95 740 Il Sunroof Drainage Issue

To anyone that may have had this issue:

My 95 740 has a leak on the passenger side, upper A piller. It comes in just above the windshield- (so i can rule out a faulty seal there)- and it would have to travel uphill from the door seals- which leaves only the sunroof as the cause.

I opened the sunroof looking for a clogged drain tube, and found that the forward drain holes are puttied closed on both the driver and passenger sides. the putty may be not making a seal anymore on the side that leaks, but before I re apply anything- I wonder what the problems may be if i seal it off.

I believe that water is getting past the putty, traveling down the drain tube which must be missing or damaged causing the water to enter car at the a piller. has anyone replacedc one of these tubes before? is the process fairly simplistic? or should i just try to putty it closed again forcing the water to drain at the rear tubes.

your thoughts on the matter greatly appreciated.

It sounds like clogged drain tubes. Does that putty look like it is OEM? Has the windshield ever been replaced? If it has they may have screwed up the drain tubes which run down the A pillars.
