Power Window
About a year and a half ago, I replaced the power window master switch on the drivers side (bought the part from the Pontiac dealership). The symptom was that the speed of the window kept decreasing until it no longer worked, when I pushed the button for the driver's side window. However, the rest of the windows worked fine from the master control.
The same problem has re-occurred and I am looking for some help to diagnose the problem. I am thinking that the motor needs to be replaced. When I called up a junk yard to order a used part, they asked me if the regulator was also shot. How can I test both parts to see if the are burned out. Or if it's a re-occurrance of the master switch problem. Many Thanks, Ascot |

Re: Power Window
Your window adjustments screws may be too tight causing the motors to burn themselves out. It is most likely its just the motor. Regulators do go on occassion but 9 times out of 10 its just motor shorted out from overheating. Also you may be better off buying a rebuilt unit since your having a problem I think its autozone that guarantee's there window motors for like 3 years or something. Good Luck.
