1998 Grand LE Tranny Problems

Hi,

After searching the archieves I could not find any reference to a problem (shift indicator), hense this new thread.......

1998 Grand Caravan LE 3.3 engine, 604 transmission.

Transmission was rebuilt at a shop in April 2004. TCM was replaced, solinoid was replaced (twice), output sensor was replaced. Its been back 5 times since for ongoing problems.

The check engine light comes on intermittently but the tranny shifts normally. Other times the check engine light comes on and the tranny goes into limp mode, again intermittently. Heres the curious thing...the shift indicator on the dash (green LED) is not functioning properly. The indicator (the LED box) only ranges between R, N, and D. It will not go to P, 3, or L regardless of shift lever position. Other times it flashes and other times the LED box surrounds P,R,N,D,3,and L (individually).

Last week I bought it back to the shop to read the codes. It showed a 700 code.

If the code is P0700, that means that the PCM has found an active fault in the TCM. The only way to check out what's wrong is have a shop go in to the TCM and see what's going screwy in there.
