Re: VR4 Spyder

The spyder VR4 weighs about 400 pounds more. I believe it's total weight is around 4,200 pounds.

EDIT: I misread your question. The reason it is heavier is simply the convertible part. The whole entire mechanism, in order to retract the top, ads the extra weight. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong) It's nice to watch in person but not my cup of tea.

Re: VR4 Spyder

Ooooo, Ooooo, Where!!?? Do some research on a swap and tell us how much it would cost lol, I've wondered if you could fab in the spyder part from one that was totaled or somthing. Mmmm, hardtop spyder on the cheep (well maybe not so cheep since there would be a lot of cut and weld to do lol).

Re: VR4 Spyder

i looked up on just takeing a non spyder and stuff and makeing it a spyder, well its not pretty sight or price...
so i started looking for like 3 month and found a spyder in a junk yard without engine... the man sold it to me for $2000 to him he probaly was riping me off to me i would have spent $5000. only problen with the car is it had bad front end damage. but nothing a good old frame stretcher and a new fender and bumber wont doo... the paint is still good on the car and everything looks in good condition... someone has rip out the dash and all that good stuff but i dont mind ill take the dash out of my 92 vr4 (it looks better than the 2nd gen dash anyways (yes yes they do look look the same except the passenger side is dif because of no air bag)) so i was going to has a hybird spyder lol with 92 parts... im on doing a engine swap and put bumber fender hood basicully every body part that i can from the 92 on it... so look out there is going to be a 92 spyder out there lol.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: VR4 Spyder

Wow, a 92 Spyder! Sounds like an awsome doable project. Only thing is the compramized frame, might think about how to make that more sturdy.
