subwoofers

Is it possible to replace my rear 4x6 stock speakers with some subwoofers? If so,what size? Does this even make sense? I replaced the fronts with JL audio components, and I want more bass. 2002 silverado extented cab.

Re: subwoofers

ive seen some custom work done where someone had put 6x9's in the rear door pannels, ther were down lower where the little storage spot is... I know their not quits "subs" but they will definetly give you more bass. So it is possible but you would need to get some custom door pannels. Did you replace the front speakers with JL subs or just 6 1/2's?

Jl Audio makes a stealth sub box for under the rear seat. A single 12 inch fits in it. I have one and believe me, it is plenty of bass. Cleanest application I have seen thus far.

Re: subwoofers

I built a custom box myself. it holds 2 10's and the amp. looks really good. Fits right under the back seat and sounds awesome. I was thinking of getting the JL stealth box with the 12, but i wanted 2 10's, and i dident want to spend $200 on a box when i could build one myself for $50 and looks and sounds just as good. Ive been meaning to get some pics up, but the weather has been shitty and im a lazy ass.

I've got 2 12's under my rear seat. You could potentially install subs in the door panels in the rear, but its going to require a lot of custom work and be very costly.

Re: subwoofers

I've been looking for subs to install under my back seat for a few days and I was wondering if y'all had any recommendations. Initially I looked at getting a probox or q-logic and putting two 12's under the seat but I'd rather just build the box myself instead of spending $200 on a regular box. I've been looking at some 10" Kicker L7 but it is going to be a bit tougher to fit those under the seat without tilting the seat too much. What subs are you guys running and do you recommend them?
