cops...

ok so i have a little story.. just putting it out there for any comments you guys wanna make..

so im driving home today, and get the urge to turn up the bass a little .. its about 20 degrees out.. so i had my windows up. Im figuring.. well my car is all sealed up.. and it cant be that loud on the outside.. so im cruising slowly down the highway with my music way up. sure enough a cop drives right by me. i see him, and then just as hes next to me i figure ill hit the good ol ATT in case hes a dick and can hear my bass.

sure enough, as im watching in my rear view, i see his brake lights go on, his top lights flip on and i got that feeling when your stomach drops (anyone whos been pulled over knows what i mean).. i say shit.. i cant believe windows up and this assholes actually pullin me over.. it cant be that loud...

ANYWAYS.. the dude ends up just turning his lights off and keeps driving in the other direction.. thank god.. but it still had me thinking. now i actually have to always worry abotu how loud my stereo is?? oh well.. at least i didnt have to learn the hard way

anyone been pulled over before for bass? better yet.. anyone had a ticket? im curious as to about how much they ticket you for.

I know that feeling all too well. Trust me. I've never been pulled over for subs, but then again my only setup I owned sucked ass anyways, couldn't hear it if you wanted to. I got a $250 ticket for doing 101 in a 65. The state trooper asked me "Do you know how fast you were going, son?" Now I'm not one to shoot the shit, so I was straight forward with the man, so I said "I'm guessing 100". In reply he says, "Try 101". Shit happened and I got my ticket and almost hauled off to jail.

I had a friend get pulled over for bass one night in Skokie(suburb right next to Chicago) lol he has 2 12" Type R's. He just got a warning, which is usually the case, I believe if you actually get a ticket around here it's like $50 and they don't even take your license for it.

Re: cops...

Trust me dude he didn't hear your bass...... if you were on the highway he wouldn't have heard your bass if your windows were all the way down (assuming you were both moving)

Re: cops...

Ya i highly doubt he turned on his lights because of your music. Specially on the highway, with windows rolled up, the sound waves that do escape would barely be audible (if at all)

Depends on how loud the setup is and how much sound the car leaks. I was driving down the freeway with my friend at about 70 and an escalade pulled up beside us. With our windows up, his windows up, and driving 70 down the freeway, we could still hear his bass over our music. When we turned and looked at him he rolled down his windows and we could hear it and feel it in the entire car.

But I don't think that would be possible with a sealed 15" CVR, maybe if it was ported, but not sealed.

Re: cops...

well yeah i figured theres no way in hell he heard it. but i was pushin it pretty hard and we were the only two on the highway.. so i figured theres no other way..

the only thing i can think is that maybe he got a call right as i passed and flipped his lights on, but then the call got calcelled or somethin.. but it seems liek too much of a coincidence.. so i figured it was me. (and i was goin like 5 under the speed limit too)

and yeah sr20 my car leaks air like a bitch.. haha i was putting new bolts on my license plate a couple days ago and i had the heat on in my car while i was doin it.. and i felt it all coming out by the bumper.. so i said what the hell? and sure enough theres some weird vents on the bottom of the hatch that were letting all of the air out..
and ive closed my doors with the music up and its still pretty audible so it must be leaking pretty bad.

BUT like i said i still have a hard time believing he heard it with windows up on a highway with a sealed VR too.

Re: cops...

i dunno. its 2 of them on 800w. not 800w each. he thinks it is loud. i told him wait untill i save up enough money for my avalanche 15 and ED NINe.1. then wait untill i can get a 2nd ED NINe.1. Not only will i have 100% better SQ i will be ALOT louder.

Was this simply because of the amount of airspace he had to work with and possibly having like 4 subs in there? Or did he just invest in some really loud subs.

Re: cops...

err.. i had sony explod subs before, just because they can't work with their rated power doesn't automatically mean they suck, i got them for $55 each and they were decent in a sealed box
