Sleeping too long?

I've been sleeping for 11+ hours all week, the thing is, I try to wake up though. I get to bed around 12:30 (not late), set my alarm for 9:30, and my phone alarm to 9:40, they both go off, but I can't move in the morning to turn them off, I manage to turn my phone alarm off, but not my radio, I end up falling back to sleep for another 3-4 hours..

Does anyone else have this problem? Anyway to combat it?

Re: Sleeping too long?

Nope, I jump out of bed, head to the shower and all's peace. I'm used to it though with high school and early college classes but i only get 6-7 hrs a night. sometimes i take a night later.

Re: Sleeping too long?

Get to bed early, at least for a week. That way you'll be well rested.

Is having someone else wake you up an option? Like do you live with someone who can physically wake you up and make sure you get up? Once you do that for a couple days and your body gets use to sleeping fewer hours, all should be good.

Re: Sleeping too long?

I do the exact same thing if i dont have anything to do. When I do have something to do I tell myself before I go to sleep that I have to get up or else! Youll get that stuck in your mind that you HAVE to get up so you will. Or my dad lets my dog in my room after he lets her out in the back yard each morning and she wakes me up....damn that bitch....really its a female dog so she is a bitch...

When I have that problem, the only thing that works is going to bed earlier.

Davo... thats EXACTLY what i'm like, i cant get up in the morning. I just turn off my alarm and sleep longer, or i'll hit the snooze about 10 times+ so i actually get up about 1.5-2 hours after the first time the alarm went off. Its fucked... i was wondering if i was the only one lol

Sivic that doesnt even work for me... even if i KNOW i have to be up, unless its incredibly important. In the morning when i JUST wake up, i dont think rationally cause i feel soooooooo comfortable and i'm half asleep. So i just try to rationalize that i dont really have to get up (like for school) and then i just go back to sleep.

It didnt even work when i had my mom trying to wake me up in the mornings... cause i just say whatever i can say to sleep longer, cause i feel so comfortable right when i wake up.

The only thing that ever worked was when my dad had afternoon or night shift at work and he'd be awake, as soon as i'd hear his foot steps coming for my door i'd jump the fuck out of my bed like i was speedy gonzalez

^^ Thats exactly why whooping your kids ass when they're young pays off

Re: Sleeping too long?

I only have real trouble getting up if I've physically exhausted myself a few days previously, I usually get about 6 hours of sleep, which is great for getting up, as the body doesn't get so used to sleeping.

Have you by any chance in the past few weeks been lacking of sleep? If so then maybe your body is just trying to catch up. But sleeping that long is really not that good if you do it all the time. I find that if i sleep any longer than 9 or so hours im exhausted all day long. 7-8 hours is optimum sleep for me to function well.

Re: Sleeping too long?

I'll sleep 12-14 hours a day if theres no reason to wake up. fuck it.

I look at it like this. Im a big guy. I have big batteries. They take longer to charge. I personally vote that we change the day scale to 36 hours, so I can sleep 14 hours, and have 22 to be awake. That would be great.

Gotti... me too man... me too. When I go to bed, I say... Im gonna get up early tomorrow so I dont have to rush in the morning. Then when my alarm goes off, Im like.. fuck it, Im gonna rush later, so I can sleep now. Happens every single day of my life.

Re: Sleeping too long?

I usually get 6 or 7 hours sleep. Still not entirely used to it even after working for 2 years.

Earlier to bed will make a difference.

Re: Sleeping too long?

Yeah, but i physically can't fall asleep before 1am.

I get home at 6ish from work, feeling ok. At around 8pm i'm shattered. At 10pm i suddenly have tons of energy again and dont feel sleepy til 12.30-1.00. it's just... weird..

Re: Sleeping too long?

I was in the same boat a few years ago; too tired to do anything, but suddenly - bang! ready to run at 10-11pm.

Couldn't go to sleep before 12 or 1 either; just started to put myself to bed about 15 minutes earlier every 2 days, even if I just lied there for the 15 minutes. Eventually I was back at 11 going to bed. Body can't adjust to stuff quickly sometimes, have to make gradual change.
