any suggestions for a new used car?

hey, i am sure there are tons of these threads, but i am wondering what type of car i should get next. i currently have a 94 probe gt, with some problems going on, and i want to ditch the thing asap. i am looking at spending around 7k. i want a fairly fast car, but i cannot afford too much insurance, being that i am almost 18. i was looking at getting a vr-4 but the insurance for those is rediculous. any way, i really don't want a civic, but i am looking for a good project car. one that i can buy for around 7k and build up to become a really nice car, but i don't want to get stuck with another pos, that is going to have ton's of problems. any suggestions? thanks

if you really want a VR4 but want cheaper insurance, get a Stealth R/T TT, same car but with cheaper insurance. It won't be any more reliable than your probe though, possibly worse, and definitely more expensive to fix.

Re: any suggestions for a new used car?

haha, nooo, civics are no show LOL. no but most of the mustangs out there suck, and it's a over rated car. the 2005's are cool, and older mustangs are cool, i just hate the 90's-2004 (not sure of exact dates). the main reason behind that, is that my pos probe can beat a stock mustang... and that is really really sad.

Sure maybe the v6 stangs you can beat, but good luck with the gt's and cobras. I would say an lt1 camaro, but thats prolly all show and no go just like the stang. i would agree with mr2 turbo, but good luck finding them for cheap in some places, i would also suggest an e36 bmw or audi 1.8t

Re: any suggestions for a new used car?

im surprised no one suggested a 95-99 Eclipse GSX or GST eclipse or Eagle Talon, for 7k, you could probably find one in good condition, they make great project cars too, being how the stock internals can handle up to 400HP. Insurance probably wont be too great since its a sports car with a turbo though.
