Thinking about buying an 87 Accord
After a few years of owning american cars i'm thinking about going back to honda for a while, I'm looking into an 87 hatchback and i'm wondering how these cars run and if its a good choice.

Just from experience, both my own and and indirectly through friends - the gen-3's are an ok choice, but AVOID AUTOMATICS in anything older than a 94... especially if you don't know the car's history - it could more than likely cause you a lot of pain
b-sides, standards are so much more fun |

My friend has an '87 he'd probably pay you to take if we don't figure out this electrical short.![]() They are great cars. This one has 187,000 miles and runs like a scalded dog. It's a five speed. A/C even still works.

How Ironic!
How ironic! I just bought the exact same car TODAY! I gave $500 for it.Bought it from a freind that I work with . At 140K miles, this thing runs and drives like a champ. Everything still works, including the a/c. Needs exhaust, which I have already priced @ $150, and the passengers side door lock mechanism has come apart inside the door, so the door is locked and will not open. I think this will be an easy fix. Other than that it is in great shape for an 87. No major body blemishes except for a hair of rust starting on the rear fender wells. Interior is pretty good too. I think for $500, I didn't go wrong.
