I have a body mounting question.

I was wondering will a 1973 Chevy pickup cab mount up to a 1985 Chevy 4x4 frame. I need ot get a new cab and i found a 73 cab with no rust. Any help would be appriciated.

Re: I have a body mounting question.

You can MAKE it work I bet. Unsure how close to being a direct mount it would be. Take you some measurements is your best bet. As long as you know how to weld, you can make it work I'm pretty sure

Re: I have a body mounting question.

I'm pretty sure it will. But I think there were slight styling changes in 1980 or 81. Make sure all the body lines are the same. You may need to use the doors off of your 85 if they are not rusted.

Re: I have a body mounting question.

The body lines between a '73 and a '85 are not going to be the same. That does not matter though for what he is trying to do. He wants to take an ;85 frame, and mount a '73 cab on it. he just needs to worry about things like WHERE exactly to mount the cab so that the motor clears the firewall when it (the motor) is in position, and that the bed wil mount up alright as well.

Does this '85 frame you are talking about, do you know if it has ever been damaged due to a wreck or show signs of? Inspect it VERY carefuly, might be hard to spot where it has been repaired (if applicable). I wouldn't waste my time with any frame that is or has been damaged if I were you, KaminskiMotorsport
