Stiff Gas Pedal

I finally got my Stealth today. I was curious if the gas pedal is supposed to be really stiff in this car. When I compare it to how my Prelude was, it seems extremely stiff. I was also curious if when the car is in drive and you take your foot off the brake and don't touch the gas, shouldn't it move forward? The rpm's are similar to what they were on my lude. On the lude, if you let off the brake it would start scooting down the road. Is it the weight difference? My problem is that I probably should not compare it to my lude. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Stiff Gas Pedal

Hey that's funny, I went from Prelude to 3000GT too and that was the first thing I noticed as well. Yeah that's how the gas pedal is...usually a sticky gas pedal would mean the throttle body needs cleaning, but that's just the nature of this car. As for the idle and not moving thing, it's nothing to worry about, it's just how the car is.

Thanks for the info. I was getting scared that I had bought a lemon. It really takes some adjusting to since it doesn't seem to shoot off like my lude. Course, the takeoff was really noticable with my lude since it had tranny problems. The stealth just seems to prefer gliding along.

Re: Stiff Gas Pedal

mine moves a little.. maybe 1/2 mph my pedal is kinda wierd tho, when u push it to ease up some, it sometimes is hard to push an i push it down a lil more than it needs to be and the front end will jump up a little.

Re: Stiff Gas Pedal

oh a word of advice...dont EVER EEVVER do a neutral drop with this car...you WILL blow your tranny lol....don't make the same mistake I did trying to get a better launch. I only did about 3 of them and it didn't even change into drive when I was rev'd high, and it was instantly broken lol...so if you want to get a good launch w/ this car, you need a 5-speed no exceptions.
