Driving light bulbs?

Anyone know a good upgrade on my 01 rado's driving lights. I think they are 880's? Looking for a brighter bulb. Thanks

Re: Driving light bulbs?

Sylvania does make a SilverStar bulb (4157ST) that is brighter than stock. They also make a Long Life bulb (4157LL) that is same brightness as stock but will last a lot longer.

Re: Driving light bulbs?

I put 893 bulbs in....... shine a little brighter but still pretty useless. I think they just look a little better with the Sylvania HID X2020s' I've installed. Just be careful...... I was told not to run them too long because they burn a little hotter and there's a chance of melting the plastic housing. Don't really know how true that is. They seem ok so far.

Can't wait till spring to install a matching Sylvania HID X1010 set up. That'll be 100 times better than what I have now.

Re: Driving light bulbs?

Are we talking about the daytime running lights or the fog lights?

Re: Driving light bulbs?

Yea, cuz, correct me if I'm wrong but a 880 type bulb is for the fog lights, a 4157 type bulb (2000CA Yukon) is for the DRL's, and the low beam headlight is a 9006 or maybe 9005. Can't remember which right now.

Re: Driving light bulbs?

Nigel215 what brand HID did you get and have you installed them. I talked with a few car nuts today and the projector headlights we have need the HID lights. They are only 35w thus a lot cooloer and they show to put out 3X the light of a Halogen. I have searched and can't find a bad comment yet.

Anyone else have comments on the HID after they installed them?

Lowbeams are 9006. Highs are 9005.

I think thats right. I just replaced my lows with Superbrights, so I'm almost positive on the 9006. Looked for highbeam replacements and then realized I didnt really need 'em.

FWIW, the Superbrights are 30% brighter than OEM and are under $20 for a set at Wallyworld. I've never run Silverstars (nor seen 'em in person) so I can't comment on those. They're $20 more for a set at Wallyworld. ($18 for Superbrights vs. $38 for Silverstars)

Sorry to threadjack.
